Project Description

TURNING

Designed to respond to every need, the Nikko Tools product range for turning offers high quality solutions for internal and external machining, with a wide choice of grades and chip breaker geometries. The carbide and cermet family is added to one of the most complete offerings of “advanced materials” (PCD, PCBN, ceramics): solid, conventional brazed cutting edge or “vertical” technology.
The wide range of tool holders includes numerous solutions for external machining, available with four types of clamping (S, P, M, and D). Internal steel, carbide or “Vortex” bars complete the offer for high performance chip removal.

SUCCESS STORIES

ISO H: Excellent finishing with Nikko Tools wiper inserts

Nikko Tools PCBN wiper solution enabled to meet the roughness requirements of Ra max =0,4 microns in a finishing application on a hardened steel workpiece. Besides the excellent finishing, Nikko Tools system reduced drastically the cycle time thanks to an increase of cutting speed from 100 to 150 m/min.

Ceramic improves productivity in Cast Iron machining

Nikko Tools ceramic insert was tested against a competitor carbide insert for a turning application on a grey cast iron piston. The result achieved was a clear increase in productivity and tool lifes of the insert compared to the alternative solution.

No burrs in copper turning

Nikko's PCD insert has been called to solve a difficult problem related to burrs creation in turning a copper joint comparing results against an alternative solution. Despite the challenges the result was excellent, no burrs on the workpiece and more than double tool life compared to the alternative solution.

Aluminium turning: Excellent finishing

Excellent tool life and finishing. Tested with a turning application of an aluminum part of a washing machine, Nikko Tools PCD insert has been able to keep the maximum roughness within the level of 4 microns required by the drawing. Nikko insert has reached a tool life 6 times longer than the competitor's solution that has completed only 500 parts.
